To be a “qualifying person” means that the property is the only, or principal, residence. For example, the principal place of residence by a student in term time.

N.B.: A member of the same family is considered to be:
- spouse (living together as husband and wife), civil partner (living together as if civil partners), parent, grandparent, brother, sister, child, grandchild, uncle, aunt, niece or nephew of the other person.
